Roles of a Hunter

One of the Hunter’s primary roles is to go out in any of the continents in search for wild beasts that they can later tame into pets to help accomplish difficult tasks since Hunters cannot wear plate armor and shields and can only wear mail armor starting at level 40. Taming using the “Tame Beast” ability is just the first step where techniques are required to make sure the 20 seconds needed for taming goes uninterrupted. Certain traps or spellcasting allies can help in taming some difficult beasts.

After a beast has been tamed, the role shifts to training and caring for the pet since it initially starts unhappy. Keeping the pet happy is essential for it to dish as much damage as possible. Feeding the pet with food is the most basic way of increasing its happiness, but different pets eat different foods. Melee hunters can survive with more skill points spent on the Beast Mastery talent tree as some talents like the “Endurance Training” increase the maximum health of the character and its pet. Same goes with the “Thick Hide” which increases armor ratings. Many of the other talents improve pets alone making it a good talent tree to focus on when using ranged weapons as well.

However, to make the most out of ranged combat, it is best to invest heavily on Marksmanship talents to maximize the damage of guns and bows. Some of the skills benefit pets as well such as the “Rapid Recuperation” talent.

Survival talents are good for soloing, but require a bit more skill to master than the Beast Mastery talents. It is rewarding though since some of the traps are for crowd control and can deal massive damage to mobs if set correctly.
